Update Note: See the latest 2021 version of this and the new R6 Race and GYTR for 2022.

Following the launch of the new Yamaha YZF-R6 Supersport Bike, Yamaha have followed up with a new 'race-ready' middleweight Supersport bike at the 2016 EICMA International Motorcycle Exhibition in Milan.

The race-ready R6 will compete on track when Yamaha re-enter the 2017 FIM Supersport World Championship, with only minor alterations permitted to the bike's cylinder head, gearbox, suspension, rear shock, front fork, electronic system and brake disks.

Race-Ready and Raring to Go

Yamaha have restyled the 600cc Supersport bike based on the latest generation MotoGP and World Superbike models, including the M1-like air intake, LED lights and the new tail design from the latest R1 with full race fairing (two-piece front and single piece seat), Quick Shift System (QSS), Akrapovic exhaust, Brembo brakes, telescopic forks, front suspension with Ohlins Cartridge kit and Pirelli Diablo tyres (180 rear).
